“Thrills and Spills of Archival Research: Investigating David Burn” – Brown Bag Lunch with Ross Harvey

David Burn was a newspaper editor in nineteenth-century New Zealand. Born in Scotland, he moved to Australia then New Zealand where he offended a lot of people – good news for researchers because he left a lot of tracks in the archives. I have been researching Burn since the late 1980s and have encountered many frustrating situations in archives. This presentation describes some of them, providing?lessons for budding archivists about how not to do it.
