Meet SCoSAA’s New Secretary/Archivist, Caitlin Birch!

Caitlin is a second-year student in the dual degree Archives Management and History program. In 2009, she completed her undergraduate education at the?University of Delaware?in Newark, DE, earning a bachelor?s degree in English with a concentration in Journalism and minors in History and Irish Studies. She then returned to Maryland, where she grew up, and worked as a copy editor and page designer for a newspaper company before eventually deciding to pursue graduate degrees. Since beginning at Simmons, Caitlin has interned at the?Cambridge Historical Commission, processing the papers of longtime Cambridge resident and activist?Sheila Cook, and?WGBH, managing audiovisual and digital assets for the PBS television programs ?Frontline? and ?American Experience.? She has strong interests in the history of journalism, natural history and environmental history, and upon completing her education at Simmons, would
ideally like to work?in the archive of a museum dedicated to one of these topics.
In her free time, Caitlin?enjoys swimming, field hockey, running, writing, reading,
and hanging out with her cats, Biggie and Tupac.

  • Monitors event registrations
  • Photographs and documents SCoSAA events
  • Creates event flyers and publications
  • Assists co-chairs as needed
