SCoSAA Outing to House of the Seven Gables 🎃

Tour tickets are on us! We will meet at North Station for the 12:20 PM train to Salem, or you can plan to meet us at the front entrance to the Gables at 1:45 (transportation costs are on you). After our tour, we’ll find a local spot for nibbles and drinks!
***We encourage you to purchase a round-trip rail ticket ahead of time. MBTA currently has commuter rail weekend passes for $10, a significant reduction in price! Check out the MBTA website or app to find out how to get your tickets!

ARMA October Meeting at Simmons

ARMA is a professional organization for the Records and Information Management (RIM) and Information Governance (IG) professions, and the Boston chapter is looking to begin a collaboration with the School of Library and Information Science. Our own Jeannette Bastian, Kathy Wisser, and Jason Wood will speak, there will be a tour of the Simmons archives, and lunch will be provided. You don’t want to miss this unique networking opportunity!

Halloween Horror Readers’ Advisory 🎃

Are you spooked by the thought of suggesting genre reads to your patrons? Come get some tips and recommendations to boost your confidence! This event will be split into two parts: the first hour, we’ll present a recorded Horror RA webinar by librarian and RA for All blogger Becky Spratford. Afterward, students will have a chance to swap their own favorite genre recs (can be horror, supernatural, sci-fi, fantasy, mystery, or suspense) and grab copies of some of the books discussed for inspiration. Come to one or both parts!

Located in downtown Boston, Philanthropy MA is a nonprofit who works with their members to help them with grant research and funding. Libraries and archives often struggle with funding and our host, Simmons alum Georganna will inform us of different tools they offer.
