DERAIL is looking for coordinators! The Diversity, Equity, Race, Accessibility, and Identity in LIS Forum is an entirely student-run conference held in the spring that focuses on confronting and combating the oppressive systems within the LIS field. Each year, a team of Simmons students serve as committee members to organize the event, which has attracted the participation of MLIS students in programs across the country. Attend our brief session to learn about the open positions on this year’s coordinating team and sign up to get involved.

The President of the American Library Association, Loida Garcia Garcia-Febo, will visit the Cambridge Public Library to promote her advocacy campaign of Libraries=Strong Communities. This campaign is intended to highlight the value of public, academic, and school libraries, and the many ways in which these libraries deliver an increasing array of services, which contribute to strengthen communities. Ms. Garcia-Febo will participate in a celebration of public and academic libraries, which will take place at Joan Lorentz park in front of the Main Library at 11:45 am. More information here.

Tour tickets are on us! We will meet at North Station for the 12:20 PM train to Salem, or you can plan to meet us at the front entrance to the Gables at 1:45 (transportation costs are on you). After our tour, we’ll find a local spot for nibbles and drinks!
