It’s National Library Week! Check out all of the awesome events happening this week! Once again, all SLIS students are allowed to attend any of these events, regardless of membership status in our groups, or professional organizations. Come network, socialize, and build new skills!

Several poster templates will be available for you to take your own photobooth picture. Overdose Prevention Training

  • One of the most prevalent threats to the lives of library patrons is that of overdose. To be prepared to respond in these emergency situations, librarians across the country are learning to administer Narcan. Narcan has been credited with reversing nearly 1,124 overdoses in Boston from October 2016 to May 2017. Boston Public Health Commission will be offering education and training to SLIS students. Participants learn about the importance of calling 9-1-1 in the event of an overdose, how to perform rescue breathing and administer nasal Narcan, and treatment options for opioid users. Registration required.

  • SLIS Panopticon is excited to announce our end of semester Art Show for Spring 2018 on Friday, April 27, 2018! We are accepting submissions for the show from all interested students, faculty and staff until April 13th. Our intent is to create a fun and casual event open to all members of our community. The night is also a way to come together and celebrate the coming of spring and the end of another semester. All are encouraged to participate, and no one will be turned away or judged for quality or content. We will accept ANY medium. Light refreshments will be served.
  • How to submit: Please email the required metadata in bold below to [email protected] in a new thread with ART SHOW in the subject line. We’ll update with a physical drop off time and location prior to the show, but would like April 13th to be the (soft) deadline to submit your information. Here is the metadata we require from artists:
