Sign up HERE to join the SLIS meetup for Take Back the Night, organized by the Simmons College Violence Prevention and Educational Outreach Program and Betsy’s Friends.The SLIS meetup will meet in a space to be determined, and we will head to the Simmons College Residence Campus together. The official walk will begin at the Simmons College Residence Campus, and end at the Laura Peresky Center in the Main College Building. There will be a speaker for about 20 minutes, followed by an opportunity to share personal stories of survival and experiences.

Join New England Development and Research Association (NEDRA), SLA@Simmons and SLA New England for a panel on careers in fundraising research. You will hear from professionals in the field about research and development roles librarians can fulfill outside of traditional library settings. Come with questions and an appetite, a lunch spread will be provided, and get ready to connect with some local professionals!

Students of Color at SLIS are invited to mingle with LIS professionals of color. During this event students can network with professionals and learn about their experience. For professionals, this event provides an opportunity to build relationships with newcomers to Library and Information Science. Prison Book Program:

It’s our last Prison Book program volunteering event of the semester! We are working with the Prison Book program to provide books and educational materials to incarcerated people in need. Find out more about the program here: prisonbookprogram.org
Volunteer hours are from 10 am to 4 pm. Meet us at the Palace Road building lobby at 10:30 and we will commute to the site in Quincy together! Or, feel free to meet us there! (1306 Hancock Street, Suite 100 Quincy, MA 02169) Volunteer as much as you would like, as best fits your schedule. We strongly recommend packing snacks or a lunch.
