Tuesday, November 29th:

*Prison Books Program GLBTQIA Book Drive and Dinner
6:00pm, SLIS Student Lounge
Support the Prison Book Program with a book drive. Drop off book from Monday, Nov. 28 through Friday, Dec. 2 in the SLIS Student Lounge. Join Spectra in the SLIS Lounge Tuesday, Nov. 29 at 6pm for dinner and donations! Bring an LGBTQIA book to donate as a “ticket” to dinner, and we’ll discuss why prisoners’ rights are an LGBTQIA issue. Then join PLG for their last Prison Book Program volunteer day of the semester on Saturday, Dec. 3!

Wednesday, November 30th:

*SCoSAA Federal Jobs Panel

Have you ever considered applying for a federal job? On November 30, from 2-3 in the Collaboratory we will be hosting a federal jobs panel with all the tips and tricks of navigating the federal job application process.  This is ideal for people graduating in December or May who are in or about to begin the job search process, as well as anyone who is considering an internship at NARA, Library of Congress, or other federal repositories this summer.

ResumeX is a semi-annual event hosted by SLA@Simmons. It is a speed dating style event where special library professionals review the resumes of attendees.

Saturday, December 3rd:

*Prison Book Program
10:30am, 1306 Hancock Street, Quincy, MA 02169, Suite 100

Come volunteer with PLG and the Prison Book Program. Read letters sent by incarcerated individuals and match them with donated books. The event runs from 10am-4pm at 1306 Hancock Street Suite 100, Quincy, MA 02169, and volunteers can come and go as they please. Meet us there, or meet in the Palace Road building at 10:30. We can take the train together. We recommend bring a lunch or snack. Please contact [email protected] with questions.
