    *SoCS: Professionals of Color in Archives: MIT Archives and Special Collections Tour
    4:00pm – 5:00pm – Hayden Library at MIT
    As part of our continuation to our spring Professionals of Color series, come tour the MIT Archives and Special Collections and meet professionals of color and their allies. Gain an understanding of the career trajectories in academic archives, libraries, and preservation labs. Tour will take off from Hayden Library, 77 Massachusetts Ave, Cambridge, MA 02139.

    *SCIRRT: Inknography, A Presentation by Jessea Young
    4:15pm – 5:15pm – Collaboratory (P-314)
    Please join SCIRRT this Tuesday, April 19th, at 4:15 in the Collaboratory (P314) for a presentation by Jessea Young on her project “Inkography”! “Inknography is a digital collection of oral histories and photos from tattooed Asian Americans. Asians are constantly the face of the model minority stereotype. Tattoos are the antithesis of that stereotype.” Refreshments will be served.

Thursday, April 21st:

    As part of our continuation to our spring Professionals of Color series, come tour the MIT Conservation Lab and meet professionals of color and their allies. Gain an understanding of the career trajectories in academic archives, libraries, and preservation labs. Tour will take off from Hayden Library, 77 Massachusetts Ave, Cambridge, MA 02139.

    Amy Ryan, our SLIS Adviser in Residence, is the current chair of the Digital Public Library of America, and former President of Boston Public Library. She is holding open office hours from 11:00am-12:00pm and from 1:00pm-2:00pm. The lunch conversation is from 12:00pm-1:00pm. Please take advantage of this opportunity to chat about your future career plans or request a review of your resume or to hold an information interview.     Friday, May 13th, 7:00pm – 11:00pm, Paresky Center, 3rd Floor Main College Building
    LISSA, ALA & SPECTRA present the Simmons College SLIS 2016 end-of-semester event: SLIS Prom! Celebrate the end of spring semester with a #FlashbackFriday to high school’s biggest moment, SLIS-style! Wear whatever makes you feel fancy (but bonus points for throwback attire) and kick up your heels with a live DJ, rocking dance floor, light refreshments, and cash-only bar. We’ll be raffling off great prizes, including a flat-screen TV!
