National events of the past year have focused our attention on serious social injustices: institutional discrimination, a broken criminal justice system, racial injustice, and systemic poverty in our cities. Educational institutions have a pivotal role to play in tackling societal inequalities. Simmons College is well-positioned as a leader in shaping today’s dialogue and in preparing future generations who will create a more equitable society. This panel will describe current initiatives targeting the promotion of social justice at Simmons College, including: an “undoing racism” training, curriculum offerings that engage students in examining racism and inequity at all levels, student co-curricular engagement with diversity and inclusion, and innovative methods for assessing classroom learning climate. But we know that we can do more! Join SSW Dean Cheryl Parks and SLIS Dean Eileen Abels as they lead a brainstorming session on ways we can tackle these disparities and the inequality that now characterizes many of our communities.
    *SLIS Trivia Night
7:15 pm – Thornton’s Fenway Bar & Grill, 100 Peterborough Street, Boston, MA
