Continuing the student-led discussion on Robin DiAngelo’s book, White Fragility: Why it’s so hard for white people to talk about racism, on the theme of which DiAngelo presented at this year’s ALA Midwinter conference – where several LIS professionals of color reported experiencing racist remarks and actions from white colleagues. Come tour the library at the Suffolk County House of Correction in South Bay with SLA. The librarians there will discuss the nature of work at the library and the unique challenges posed by the nature of a correctional institution. We will also talk with the Head of Women’s Programming. We will meet in the lobby of the Palace Road Building at 1:15pm and travel together (it is about a 40 minute trip).
