Simmons Chapter Wins ASIS&T 2011 Student Chapter of the Year

We are very excited to announce that our Simmons GSLIS chapter has been named as ASIS&T 2011 Student Chapter of the Year for the second year running!

Richard Hill, the ASIS&T Executive Director, wrote:

Simmons had a very successful year, hosting a number of heavily attended
events, with some well known names, including Peter Suber and Nicole Hennig.
They worked with NEASIS&T to host an event on the Simmons campus in March on
Content Management Systems, with a very large turnout of current GSLIS
students, faculty, and staff, as well as NEASIS&T members.

Simmons recorded and podcasted many of their events, which are now available
on the GSLIS podcast web site, so the content and supplementary materials of
events would be available to community members who were not able to attend
in person.

They have a very active listserv with over 300 GSLIS community members,
including current students, faculty, staff, and alums. They created an
ASISTboard listserv so that student leaders can come together in a virtual
environment to plan events for the year. Their strong leadership as well as
close knit bond with the GSLIS community and now with our local NEASIS&T
chapter, has opened the door to many exciting opportunities in the near
future.

Thank you Simmons ASIS&T members and the GSLIS community for helping us achieve this recognition!
