Curious about IS&T career paths? Unsure about the type of role you want to pursue? Looking for tips to land your dream job? Join us for the first installment of our Career Q&A Series! We’ll be joined by three Simmons SLIS alumni who will share their real-world IS&T career experiences, from how they landed their first jobs to an inside look at what they do in their roles today. 

The first installment of the series will be hosted on Zoom on Friday, February 19 at 6:00 p.m. EST. All are welcome — just be sure to register in advance. While you’re there, share any questions you might have for our panelists.

Meet our Alumni Panelists:

Headshot of panelist Anne PepitoneAnne Pepitone

Anne Pepitone is the Integrated Library Systems Coordinator and Systems Librarian at the University of Washington Libraries in Seattle, Washington. She previously served as the Interim Program Manager for Discovery and User Experience for Orbis Cascade Alliance consortium. Pepitone holds an MS in Library and Information Science from Simmons University, where she was previously a Dean’s Fellow of Instructional Technology. Pepitone has presented and taught on various topics related to discovery, integrated library systems, and user experience.

Dan Zavala is a UX Designer at Oracle Health Sciences, where he focuses on helping pharmaceutical companies simplify how they manage their clinical trials. He has more than eight years of experience in UX research and design, and has worked in various industries including Information Services, Information Technology, and, most recently, Health Sciences. Dan received a B.A. in English from Florida International University in Miami, Florida, and an M.S. in Library and Information Science from Simmons College in Boston, MA.

Emily Donohue is the Senior Director of Prospect Management and Research at UMass Boston. Previously, she was the Director of Prospect Development at Simmons University. Emily has also held prospect research positions at Emmanuel College and Combined Jewish Philanthropies. She serves on the New England Development Research Association (NEDRA) Board of Directors and is a co-chair of their Programming Committee. Emily received a BA in history from Kenyon College and an MLS from Simmons University.

 

Cynthia Cheng CorreiaHeadshot of panelist Cynthia Cheng Correia

Cynthia is Managing Director of Knowledge inForm, a competitive & commercial intelligence consultancy specializing in enhancing intelligence process and systems, training, and advisory services. Cynthia is also President of the Council of Competitive Intelligence Fellows and has served in a number of volunteer leadership roles. She is the developer of SLA’s Competitive and Decision Intelligence Certificates Program and graduate program instructor in competitive intelligence at Simmons University.
