In the world of library and information science, as well as web design, information architecture and other related fields, user experience is an up and coming field in its own right, and its roots, according to UX-Booth, date back to almost a century ago. User experience is, essentially, how a person interacts with a product such as a website or computer application and how easy or pleasing that product is to use. As professionals who design a wide array of products for users to seek and gain access to information, this field is very relevant, and it is worth learning more about it.
That’s why, this January, New England’s regional ASIS&T chapter (co-sponsored by Simmons ASIS&T) is hosting their biggest event of the year on user experience. A full day conference with lunch, “UX & You: User Experience Research and Design” will be held on Wednesday, January 6 from 8:00 AM to 3:00 PM at Simmons College in Boston.
This event will feature talks by some of the biggest local names in usability and will offer attendees various opportunities to learn how UX professionals both design and test usability for both immediate and future impact. Listen to great panels, participate in hands on activity booths, network with other information professionals, and walk away with free tools you can use right away to improve user experience.
