AccuFile, a library professional services firm, seeks enthusiastic Library Clerk for part-time
position at an international law firm in downtown Boston. Responsibilities include both library
and administrative tasks, but the primary duty will be compiling usage reports and billing for
Westlaw and Nexis on the back end. The work will be ongoing, 2-3 days per week for 8 hours
per day. Competence using MS Excel is a must. The Library Clerk position is a great career
opportunity for a GSLIS student with the ability to manage multiple priorities and thrive in a
fast-paced legal environment.

POSITION: Special Library Internship, University Development Office (UDO) Research Library, Alumni Affairs and Development, Harvard University (Two positions: Summer 2014, Fall 2014)

RESPONSIBLE TO: Research Library Manager

SUMMARY: Reporting to the Research Library Manager, the UDO Research Library intern’s primary responsibility will be assistance with research, writing and editing for projects relating to Harvard History and prospect research. This research will be conducted using both external and internal sources including Harvard’s Alumni database.

Secondary responsibilities may include: cataloging and catalog maintenance using Harvard’s cataloging software (ALEPH) and Library of Congress cataloging procedures, the management and access (including weeding) of a unique collection of Harvard history and fundraising literature, providing general reference to library users and providing assistance in the maintenance of department’s intranet (SharePoint) pages and content .

QUALIFICATIONS and EXPECTATIONS:
• Student in Masters of Library Science Program Summer 2014 (position 1) Fall 2014 (position 2)
• Completion of LIS 416 Intro. to Catal. & Class. (Preferred)
• Experience using Zotero for citation management (Preferred)
• Demonstrated experience with and understanding of online databases.
• Excellent research, writing and organizational skills; excellent computer skills, ability to prioritize and analyze confidential information with discretion required.
• Sound, ethical judgment, creativity and self-direction to work independently

HOURS and COMPENSATION:
• 10-14 hours per week (2 days per week). Summer position begins May/June 2014. Fall position begins August/September 2014
• $14 per hour

UNIVERSITY DEVELOPMENT OFFICE RESEARCH DEPARTMENT OVERVIEW:
The Research Department provides support for the Faculty of Arts & Sciences, Harvard College Fund and the University Development Office, and fulfills a central research liaison for Harvard’s eight professional schools and many of Harvard’s affiliated centers. The Research staff also provides background information for the several trips and events involving the University President, Provost and Dean of Arts & Sciences.
