BETTY EDWARDS - SENIOR RESEARCH ANALYST – DRAPER LAB
(GSLIS ALUMNUS)
Betty Edwards joined Draper Lab in July 2010 as Senior Research Analyst. Located in Cambridge, Massachusetts, the Lab is a not-for-profit independent R&D facility primarily focused on applied development for the United States Department of Defense and NASA. Prior to this she was associated with the law firm Seyfarth Shaw LLP -- initially as a law librarian and then in a firm-wide marketing and business development role. In addition to these two positions, she brings wide-ranging experience from the online provider world, having worked for Outsell, Primark/Disclosure, and Dialog. She has been an active member of SLA on both the local and national levels for 36 years and has held a number of leadership positions such as New England Chapter President, Legal Division Treasurer, and Deputy Chair of the Annual Conference. She was named a Fellow of the Association in 2008.
CLAUDETTE NEWHALL – LIBRARIAN – CONGREGATIONAL LIBRARY
(GSLIS ALUMNA)
Claudette joined the Congregational Library staff in 2005 as Associate Librarian and became the Librarian in 2010. She is responsible for: managing the library and archives staff; supervising cataloging, volunteers, and interns; and organizing, developing, and preserving the library collections, both print and digital. She was instrumental in the conversion of the catalog from print to online. Her previous positions were in banking and financial services. Claudette received a B.S. in Education in 1970 and a Masters of Education in 1972 from the University of Maine, Orono. She graduated from Simmons College with an MSLIS in 1998. She was President of the Simmons College GSLIS Alumni Association in 2006-2007 and has been active in the New England Chapter of the SLA and the American Theological Library Association.
ROBERT SEIDEL – TEAM LEAD FOR RESEARCH AND AWARENESS – KNOWLEDGE SERVICES GROUP, LINCOLN LABORATORY
Rob currently oversees a staff of eight and five library professionals in a team that executes a variety of tasks including: Information search and knowledge discovery through proprietary and unclassified resources; selecting and filtering these research results for Laboratory staff. Providing content management through disambiguation and parsing of reference retrieval terminology. Managing and enhancing Lab committee materials by creating and maintaining weblogs and by meta tagging materials for future findability and retrieval. Supporting Lab study committees. Marketing information resources to the Laboratory through outreach, training, and orientations. Producing Topical Alerts such as BioMed, Management, Cybersecurity, Autonomous Systems, Homeland Defense, Cloud Computing, Decision Support, etc.
Lincoln Lab is a Federally Funded Research & Development Center with 3700 employees who perform basic and applied research in the “National Interest”. Research at the Laboratory includes projects in space surveillance technology, air-traffic control and air safety, weather sensing, tactical systems, biological and chemical defense, homeland protection, communications, and cyber security. Rob has been with Lincoln Lab for 25 years, he previously worked for Raytheon, the Army Research Center, and medical libraries.
