Overview
These field experiences are 130-hours of work in the field, and approximately 20 hours of course work in an online course with a faculty instructor. This course is an elective that any SLIS student (with the exception of our school library teacher program students) may take after fulfilling the prerequisites.
LIS 512 now encompasses the previously offered LIS 501, LIS 502, and LIS 503, which separated library, archives, and cultural heritage field experiences into three distinct courses.
SLIS faculty has identified program learning outcomes for all its courses; the first learning outcome listed is particularly relevant to these field experiences: “Apply professional standards, tools, and best practices in the information field and across specialized areas.”
