The Raspberry Pi is a single-board computer developed in the UK and designed to facilitate the teaching of basic computer science skills in schools. At $35, the size of a credit card, and fully functional as a desktop, Raspberry Pi has prompted schools and libraries alike to get enthusiastic and creative in their technology education and programming. The Simmons chapter of ASIS&T is excited to host its own librarian-geared workshop on Raspberry Pi! Given by longtime tech and STEAM educator Conor O’Malley, the workshop will consist of an introduction to Raspberry Pi (its concept and applications); a hands-on workshop in which participants can experiment with RP peripherals like Digital Signage, the SenseHat, and a camera; and a wrap-up discussion.
