One of the most prevalent threats to the lives of library patrons is that of overdose. To be prepared to respond in these emergency situations, librarians across the country are learning to administer Narcan. Narcan has been credited with reversing nearly 1,124 overdoses in Boston from October 2016 to May 2017.
Boston Public Health Commission will be offering education and training to SLIS students. Participants learn about the importance of calling 9-1-1 in the event of an overdose, how to perform rescue breathing and administer nasal Narcan, and treatment options for opioid users. Registration required.
