The Lucy Parsons Center

The Lucy Parsons Center is an "independent, non-profit, radical bookstore and community space." They have volunteer opportunities, weekly radical movie nights, and a calendar full of other exciting progressive events. Check out their links page for a long list of Boston-area progressive organizations.

Prison Book Program

The Prison Book Program is "a grassroots organization that exists for one purpose - to send free books to prisoners." Volunteer on Tuesday nights at their Quincy location and you may even get to see the grave of John Quincy Adams! Thursday night volunteer opportunities return in September.

Women's Lunch Place

"For over 25 years, the Women's Lunch Place has been a daytime community in Boston for poor and homeless women and their children." Simmons PLG periodically holds book drives to gather reading materials for WLP's guests, but there are numerous other volunteer opportunities for those interested.

Papercut Zine Library Located in Somerville, this library is full of zines of all types. The link above is a short film that explains the library.
