The Ruth D. Gates Digital Scrapbook is a great example of a primary source. Combined with the lesson plans provided here, it can be used as a teaching resource to introduce digital libraries and further students' explorations in subjects such as history, math, and creative writing. Ruth's love of the theatre and her experiences as a student at Simmons College, as well as the time period of the 1920s, were all inspirations for the lesson plans. While each plan was designed for a certain age group, teachers should feel free to customize these ideas to meet the needs of their classrooms and students. The majority of these lesson plans require having computers and Internet access for students. The teaching resources are organized by age group:
