  • Co-delivered a juried presentation at the Association for College and Research Libraries (ACRL) 2023 conference, with Laura Saunders, Rebecca Davis, and Vivienne Piroli, in a presentation titled “User Services through a Critical Lens” (March 15th, 2023) 
  • Delivered a presentation on “The Three Pillars of Critical Information Literacy” as part of the Long Island Library Resources Council (LILRC) webinar series (March 1st, 2023)
  • Led the coordination, presentation, and facilitation of WCC’s inaugural library-hosted event, “The Killing of Kenneth Chamberlain Movie Screening and Q&A Discussion”; curated engaging dialogue with movie cast, including social justice activist Kenneth Chamberlain Jr., director David Midell, and actor/producer Enrico Natale; fostered scholarly discussions on pressing socio-political issues (February 9th, 2023) 
  • Keynote presenter at Santa Clara University (SCU) Library’s Teaching Retreat; presented CIL and pedagogical lesson planning to SCU librarians (August 28th, 2022)
  • Lead panelist at Syracuse’s Black and Latinx Information Science and Technology Society (BLISTS) “Foundations of a Society” Inaugural Conference (May 28th, 2021)
  • Keynote presenter at the Westchester Library Association (WLA) 2022 Virtual Annual Conference; presented the Three Pillars of CIL to academic and public librarians (May 6th, 2022)
  • Co-panelist, alongside Laura Saunders, at the 2021 New Librarianship Symposia: Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion Series, hosted by the Library of Congress (November 4th, 2021)
  • Collaborated with Dr. J.H. Patin, assistant professor of the School of Information Studies at Syracuse University, involving Syracuse’s LIS 511 Course; teaching students cultural competency, inclusion, neutrality, equity in instruction, critical pedagogy, and diversifying academic librarianship (October 14th, 2021) 
  • Delivered a juried presentation at the SUNYLA 2021 Conference, examining “Critical Information Literacy and Inclusive Learning Environments for College Students” (June 18th, 2021)
  • Led a three-part training workshop for SUNY Librarians on “Critical Information Literacy and the effects of misinformation and disinformation on social media” (February 2021 – May 2021)
  • Interviewed noted author, Dr. Ibram X. Kendi, regarding his novel, “How to be an Antiracist”, sponsored by the White Plains Public Library’s “One Book, One City” initiative (October 7th, 2020) 

Artificial Intelligence in LIS

Current Projects

  • Launched SLIS’s first AI course, ‘AI and Its Applications in the LIS Profession,’ focusing on practical applications of AI across libraries (K–12, public, and academic), archives, museums, and other cultural institutions. The course also examines the history of AI, its sociopolitical implications, and its broader impact on LIS institutions and related sectors.
