Background:
The Admiral Foote Post #17 was a Grand Army of the Republic, Department of Connecticut Post in New Haven, Connecticut. Membership was open to veterans who served honorably during the Civil War. The collection consists primarily of member and financial records, meeting minutes, correspondence, G.A.R. bylaws and rituals, and assorted books.
Primary Duties:
Arrangement and description
Unfolding and removing deterioration risks such as staples and paper clips
Rehousing the materials in appropriate folders and boxes
Creating a finding aid
Secondary activities:
The New England Civil War Museum is currently preparing for a database migration and would like to have the student assist in catalog record creation and data clean up.
