The Mansfield MBTA commuter rail station is a fifteen-minute ride from campus. A car, rideshare, or use of the GATRA Go App would be required to make it from the station to campus.
Site Description
The Gebbie Archives are housed within Wallace Library in the heart of Wheaton's campus. Parking is available on campus. The main entrance to the archives is stair access only, but there is elevator access through the back door. The site includes a reading room, closed stacks, and digitization/quarantine office. The space is climate controlled with fluorescent overhead lights. The reading room, where work will be conducted, has natural light from skylights.
Our collections focus on administrative records of the college, student life, and manuscript collections donated by alums, students, faculty, and staff. We also house textiles, 3D objects, and audiovisual materials in a variety of formats. Our special collections hold a variety of topics, including documenting women as a group, the original library collection, artists' books, and children's literature.
