Site Description
The Providence College Archives and Special Collections (ASC) is the official repository for the historical and permanent records of Providence College. Our collections also include historically significant documents, photos, media, objects, and other materials that document the history and activities of the college and its community members, including the administration, student organizations and student life, and faculty. Our manuscript and special collections include personal papers and organizational records, primarily documenting the history of Rhode Island. We have a particularly strong focus on early to mid-20th century political figures and community organizations. The ASC is also responsible for the care and access to thousands of non-circulating books. Topics covered include religious texts, Rhode Island history, and a variety of subjects to support teaching and learning at PC.

The PC ASC has a team of 3 full-time archivists, graduate assistant, and student workers. We work with students on faculty on a wide array of research projects, teach classes, curate exhibits, collaborate with our digital projects colleagues, etc. We are also responsible for the preservation, access, and management of the collections in our care.
