The Fall 2024 HMANE Student Archivist will assist in the organization of an archaeological archive. The HMANE houses the records of Theresa Goell, the archaeologist responsible for the excavation of several sites in Turkey. Previous museum efforts have provided minimal processing (preliminary sorting, boxing, and inventory) of this large and important archaeological record. Fall 2024 archivists will work to refine two sub-sections of the Goell Archive--Correspondence and Field Records (from the site of Samsat). Correspondence will be reorganized and a folder-level Finding Aid created. Samsat records will be re-structured according to type (Notes, Photography, Publication, etc), and re-inventoried according to the new organization.

Student Archivist must be able to read and decipher cursive handwriting. An archaeological background is not necessary.
