Storytime Skills

For this project, Fern will complete 3 storytimes, one virtual and recorded alone, one toddler storytime alone and one “discovery storytime” co-led. Each of these storytimes will be planned with a full lesson plan and Fern will also write a reflection following each lesson. In addition to these projects Fern will be supported in learning about developmental milestones in kids, preparing kids to read, and other relevant materials. These materials will be provided by myself and colleagues as we support Fern in their learning. Fern will observe as many different librarians leading storytimes as possible and keep a journal of their observations. I will be available to support them in their learning and answer any questions they have along the way. In addition to observing storytimes in preparation to run their own, Fern will spend time in the Youth and Family Services section of the library to get comfortable with patron interactions.
