Project Details
This position is ideal for a student who is looking to expand their knowledge of archival processing, as well as metadata creation and management in ArchivesSpace. The first phase (approximately 40% time) of this field experience will be spent arranging and describing 2 boxes (roughly 2.5 linear feet) of previously unprocessed materials to be added to the Robert S. Cohen Collection, with processing training provided by Katie Fortier.

The second phase (approx. 60% time) of the field experience will be spent working with metadata in ArchivesSpace, through both rapid data entry description and bulk importing with templates. Comparisons of the ease and challenges of these different processes, and documenting both the process and the student’s impressions and opinions of the tools employed, will be an important part of the field work. ArchivesSpace training will be provided by Ryan Hendrickson.

Built into this experience is a report-out presentation to the staff of the Gotlieb Center and Digital Ventures on the student’s experience and findings.
