Project Details
The student will be assigned a project that generally falls into one of these two categories and is based on the student's skills and preferences.

ARCHIVAL PROCESSING
The student will gain a practical understanding of the archival enterprise by processing an archival collection. First, the student will be assigned a collection of archival materials and conduct a collection analysis, including current arrangements, formats, and conditions. Then, the student will propose an arrangement and description scheme. Once the plan is approved, the student will process the collection, including rehousing, labeling, and creating appropriate access tools.

DIGITAL CONTENT MANAGEMENT
In this advanced field experience, the student will gain a practical understanding of the archival enterprise, particularly managing digital content in an archival repository. The student will gain experience maintaining a digital repository and preparing digital content for various online platforms. Responsibilities include image manipulation, metadata creation and editing, and curating content for public access.

Requirements
Currently enrolled in an ALA-accredited Masters-level Library Science program, with a concentration in archives and special collections.
Educational experience in archival methods and standards.
Training/Experience with Omeka web-publishing platform if selecting a field experience in the
DIGITAL CONTENT MANAGEMENT category.
