DIGITIZATION:
Scanning a White House Office of Records Subject File : GI (Gifts). The Library is doing a cooperative project with the museum to provide as much information about museum objects received as gifts to the Reagans at the White House. This material will be used in our planned eMuseum presentation on our website. This project includes adding the information on our Textual Digitization Database.
INTELLECTUAL CONTROL OF COLLECTIONS
Constructing new database tables to convert collection information into created select fields. The Library is currently preparing to work with a contractor to enable us to upload collection information, updates and edits directly from our local databases. Phyllis is assisting in updating this material. This involves 700+ collections. As a side note of this project, Phyllis has volunteered to assist in editing and updating biographical information for the collection creators.
In addition, Phyllis has been assigned some updating of collection descriptions in all of our formats: paper, database and web-based.
ARCHIVAL TRADE CRAFT
Processing folders from various collections, removing all metal, establishing a folder order, housing in archival folder/boxes, adding to the finding aid if necessary, and preparation for opening material for research. This will be done for systematic processing and some small Freedom of Information Act Requests.
GENERAL ARCHIVAL MANAGEMENT
Where possible, a review of underlying archival principles is done for a better understanding of the structure of the project.
MUSEUM OBJECT DESCRIPTION
Phyllis has volunteered to assist the curatorial staff with object descriptions of the Judaica objects in our collection.
REFERENCE
Light reference duties including some small pulls of material for researchers and spending some days with reference archivist shadowing their duties.
