Project Details
The student will divide their time evenly between addressing archival preservation and conservation concerns and inventorying and cataloging the rare books collection. For the preservation and conservation portion of the project, the student will perform a variety of tasks, including creating phase boxes, performing paper conservation and binding work, and fully conserving and rebinding two books. For the inventorying and cataloging portion of the project, the student will establish existing cataloged holdings in OCLC Worldcat, conduct a baseline inventory of the uncataloged portion of the collection, and perform copy and original cataloging for same set of books receiving preservation and conservation treatment.

Requirements
60 hours of work performed on the preservation and conservation of the rare book collection with 24 hours spent creating phase boxes, 24 hours for medium intervention work, such as paper conservation, and 12 hours for fully rebinding two books

60 hours of work performed on the inventorying and cataloging of the rare book collection with 4 hours establishing existing cataloged holdings in OCLC Worldcat, 26 hours inventorying the uncataloged portion of the collection, and 30 hours performing copy and original cataloging for the same set of books receiving preservation and conservation treatment
