Site Description
The Delaware Public Archives is a government archive with more than 50,000 cubic feet of permanent government and historical material. The main functions of the Archive are carried out by three departments: Government Services, Public Services, and Records Services. The Government Services team works with our state agency and local government records officers and authorized agents to manage records according to applicable retention schedule policies. The Public Services team runs both the Research Room and the Welcome Center, servicing records to the public and providing information on local museums and tours. The Records Services team is responsible for processing incoming government record transfers and private donations and arranging and describing materials to make them accessible to the public.
Records Services comprises seven processing archivists and hosts an average of 5-8 volunteers and interns at any time. This team is responsible for arranging, digitizing (when applicable), and describing materials at item, file, and series levels. More information on our Volunteer and Intern Program can be found at https://archives.delaware.gov/faqs/volunteers-internships/.
