Stone Research Room - Archive Collection

The Stone Research Room, once a premiere destination for local history and genealogy, has been left dormant for many years due to budget restrictions. Items related to Wareham history have continued to be donated during this time but have been left in boxes untouched. The student taking on this project would look at the Stone Room Collection Development policy and make suggestions and recommendations for updating. The student would then be able to evaluate donated items for accession, preservation, and curation. The student would help library staff determine whether items should be added to the collection and assist with creating finding aids for the public to use. During this time period, the student would be given the opportunity to meet with local archivists from other libraries as well as the head of the local historical society to be advised on best practices and tools to assist with the evaluation of the Stone Research Room collection.
