Project Details
The Museum has several collections that have not yet been processed and cataloged. The intern will select from among these the collection or collections that best suit their interests and needs, process the collection (clean, photograph, house, and recommend conservation), enter the objects into the Museum's online, publicly accessible CatalogIt catalog (including writing descriptions, researching the context, and writing image captions for users with limited vision), and finally design a small "pop-up" exhibit (either one display cabinet or a page on the Museum's website, depending on the intern's interests and the scope of the collection) interpreting the collection. The supervisor will instruct the intern about how to do these things, provide frequent contact, and provide constructive feedback. The student will learn how to preserve objects, how to create metadata, how to write accessible cations, and how to link exhibits on display with entries in the catalog via QR codes.
