Project Details
Student may choose to work on one of two projects:
1) Africana studies department records and College of Arts and Sciences collection – This project would entail processing recently acquired records from the Africana Studies department (about 2 record boxes) and adding it to the College of Arts and Science (CAS) records. The CAS records are also in need of some reprocessing (new folders, adjusting arrangement, and revising finding aid) at the same time. The current finding aid for the CAS collection can be found here: https://archives.hartford.edu/repositories/2/resources/72.
2) Reprocessing our “University Players Collection” -- This collection has technically been processed before, but many of the materials appear to still be in their original folders (with photos, programs, and newspaper clippings all mixed together). I suspect that when this collection was processed, they primarily just put folders in boxes and created a list of file names. This collection needs rehousing, some rearrangement, and a properly written finding aid in ArchivesSpace (this was originally written in a word document and then the information was copied over as various notes when we started using ArchivesSpace). You can see the current finding aid here: http://archives.hartford.edu/repositories/2/resources/89).
