Project Details
Acting as an assistant to the archivist, the student will complete a variety of projects and assignments to support the day-to-day activities of the Abraham Pollen Archives of Massachusetts Eye and Ear. The APA is a small archives within the Harvard Library system that collects, preserves, and makes accessible records and objects related to the history of Massachusetts Eye and Ear and the histories of ophthalmology and otolaryngology more generally. Activities may include processing, responding to requests, performing outreach activities, and assisting with exhibit development. In particular, the APA is now preparing for Massachusetts Eye and Ear's bicentennial in 2024, and the student may be asked to assist with research, writing, and scanning in relation to the celebration and upcoming museum installations. The archivist will be happy to work with the student to tailor the field experience to their interests. The student will be given an opportunity to join the archivist in meetings and professional development activities when possible.
