Neal Family Papers and Cabinet Cards

In 2009, the Sudbury Historical Society received a donation from John McCann Neal of New York, a descendent of a Sudbury family. The gift contained some papers, but mostly eight large albums of photographs, the majority of which are cabinet cards. This reorganization project would require the student to remove the cabinet cards from their acidic housing and propose a plan for proper preservation. Then, the cabinet card collection will require proper description and a finding aid, or simply an abstract and scope note about the contents, time-permitting. Short titles will also need to be given to the items for cataloging in our database.
