Project Details
The Tom Jones photography collection consists of his personal studio archives as well as his work as a contract photographer for Maine Times (magazine). The two collections consist of 17 totes and one rack of oversized material. The two collections need to be separated out as other contract photographers will be donating additional Maine Times related materials to make one larger collection. The focus of this internship will be the separation of the collection and the processing of the studio collection. The studio portion of the collection consists of slides, negatives and prints of various sizes. The content ranges from individual and family studio portraits, landscapes, birdseye views, candid shots of events, artistic nudes and more. The collection will require heavy weeding (there is extensive duplication), arrangement and an in-depth finding aid (time probably won't allow for item level cataloging, but detailed folder level description is needed). If time allows, the intern may choose select items to digitized and add to the the Maine Memory Network.

If time allows, weeding and some arrangement of the Maine Times material would be helpful--but a full processing of this portion of the collection should probably wait until we receive additional materials from the other photographers.
