Project Details
The project will involve organizing the records of the Martin House Farm in Swansea, one of three historic properties in Massachusetts overseen by the Colonial Dames. The Farm was acquired by bequest in 1930 and so the institutional records date from that period. The work will consist of organizing the records into series, creating a finding aid, and rehousing material in archivally appropriate folders and boxes.
Martin House Farm has an interesting history of relations between Colonial settlers and Native Americans and particularly the start of King Philip's War in Swansea in 1675. These records will be used for summer 2023 research by an expert in early Colonial history in Massachusetts and so organizing them this spring would be extremely helpful.
