Westfield Authors Collection

This project is designed to prepare the Westfield Athenaeum's Local Author Collection for use through the Archives. The primary goals are to collect relevant metadata from each book into a preformatted spreadsheet to pass on to the Athenaeum's Cataloger, to reshelf the books within the Archives in an order that would better benefit researchers, and to create a finding aid for the collection. The metadata we are looking to collect has been preselected by the Archivist and Cataloger. The project is intended to give an intern an overview of how an archives functions day to day while allowing them to gain the experience of taking a collection from initial processing to a state that is accessible to researchers. The two primary deliverables are the inventory/metadata spreadsheet and the completed finding aid.
