Project Details
Under the guidance of the Acquisitions Archivist, the student intern will establish physical and intellectual control over new manuscript acquisitions. Activities will include rehousing and physically stabilizing materials to prepare for accessioning, creating box-level summary inventories for internal use, surveying collection contents to aid in title formation and establishing preliminary series, and authoring DACS-compliant biographies and scope & content notes. This is an opportunity for a student to gain practical experience in a high-volume collecting environment. A science/medical background is not necessary, though a general curiosity and interest in the history of medicine will make for a successful internship.
Are you willing to complete two evaluations of your students progress through out the course of the semester?
