Project Details
The Nuremberg Trials Project is a multi-year effort to make globally accessible an online
digital archive of roughly 130,000 documents from the 13 Nuremberg Military Tribunals
conducted in Germany 1945-1949. The Harvard Law School Library possesses one of the
few comprehensive collections worldwide of these documents, containing trial exhibits,
tribunal rulings, trial transcripts and other documents. The project portal is its website:
https://nuremberg.law.harvard.edu. We plan to launch a major update to the website this
year, posting the remaining 75% of the documents in our collection not yet available on
the website. Our main remaining work involves upgrading the descriptive document
metadata driving online search on our platform. Much of the metadata created by our
third-party vendor remains in need of completion and correction due to the complex
nature of our documents. This could also include work with German-language metadata
for those with good German skills. We would also have work harvesting document
citations from trial transcripts, correcting, enhancing and supplementing raw citation
data generated by automated scripts. All work would be done remotely, using online
Google spreadsheets, our online project image archive, and various online plain-text
documents.
