Project Details
The intended project focuses on 7-9 volumes of records of marriage intentions for the town (now city) of Peabody. Three volumes from approximately 1884 to 1917 (two additional volumes may hold earlier and later years if they can be located) are the recorded declarations and four volumes are the associated indexes. The student will be tasked with creating a processing plan, identifying enclosure and potential preservation needs, arranging and describing the records, creating a finding aid, and determining the best placement for the materials in the local history collection. The student will create an exhibit and explore different outreach methods to encourage patron engagement with their local history. A final reflection to be kept in administrative records will allow the student to evaluate the full project process from the perspective of a supervising archivist and include any comments or recommendations for future archivists.
