Collection Description:
In the 195o's, 6os, and 70s, the advertising firm Gunn Associates, Inc. carried out a practice which is common among illustrators and graphic designers: clipping from magazines and newspaper the drawings and photographs which seem interesting or useful, organizing these in a subject- ordered file, and referring to the file to find a visual starting-off point in order to develop an illustration for a client. William Gunn, the firm's founder and MassArt alum, designed the ordering system of the file and was its primary creator, but the firm's staff both contributed to, and shared the use of, the file.
Duties:
• Arrange and describe materials using demonstrated knowledge of current archival best practices and standards and create a finding aid using
ArchivesSpace. Rehouse materials into acid free folders.
• Scan materials that are acidic or fragile. Describe and attach metadata.
