Project Details
Over the past 15 years, Special Collections has created, participated in, facilitated or otherwise obtained a number of smaller oral history projects. However, we do not have a comprehensive list of these projects, and due to staff turnover through the years, much information about these projects has been lost or remains undocumented.
The student in this position would be responsible for investigating and documenting numerous details about these various projects. Examples of information sought for each oral history project would include such things as: Who developed this project? What was its purpose? When was the project undertaken? What kinds of documentation, including participant release forms, exist for this project? How much, if any, of the project has been processed to archival standards? Do transcripts or indexes to the recordings exist? And so on.
Orientation, training and basic guidance and oversight will be provided to the practicum student in this position.
The end goal of this work is to gather information to enable Special Collections staff to have a full grasp and understanding of the availability, accessibility, and processing status of numerous oral history projects undertaken by Special Collections since approximately the year 2000, thus laying a groundwork for future processing activities.
