Pro-Brush Company records - process the Financial series.

This project is to create a processing plan, then to process one series within the Pro-Brush Company [1] records. The whole collection has previously been rough-sorted into series with a box list The Financial series consists of 5 cartons plus bound financial ledgers (approximately 7 linear feet). The intern will be given background material on the history of the company and the collection, and training in Historic Northampton’s processing guidelines.

The intern will be asked to conduct an initial assessment of the series, and create a processing plan including a proposed arrangement, recommendations for preservation, if needed, and recommendations for weeding duplicate and unnecessary material. They will be given guidelines and examples of types of materials that may be weeded out. Once the plan is approved by the supervising archivist, the intern will process the series– weeding, arranging, flagging materials for conservation, re-foldering, labeling, and re-boxing. Finally, they will create a series description and folder list.
