Project Details
The goal of this project is to list and sort one accession (approx. 2.5 linear feet) into the appropriate series within the Pro-Brush Company records [1]. The earlier records have already been sorted into series with a box list. The intern will be given background material on the history of the company and the collection's arrangement, as well as training in Historic Northampton’s processing guidelines.

The student will be asked to first review the new accession and create a folder list, then draft a sorting plan for the materials to be filed within the larger collection. After reviewing the plan with the supervising archivist, they will physically sort the materials, while also re-foldering, labeling, and performing basic preservation (such as flattening papers, putting photos in envelopes, removing clips, etc.)

The sorted material will then be added to the end of the existing series, or the archivist may work with the intern to determine where the new materials should go within the current arrangement of a series. Finally, the box list will be updated to include the added material.
