Ames Public Library (APL) serves the residents of the City of Ames and Rural Story County, and serves as a vital information hub in central Iowa. APL circulates nearly a million items annually, and sees more than 300,000 visitors a year.
Since 2024, APL has served as the Iowa Center for the Book, a Library of Congress affiliate program that celebrates the literary heritage of Iowa.
