Care and Inventory of MCZ Vertebrate Paleontology Map Archive

The Museum of Comparative Zoology Vertebrate Paleontology Department has a series of flat file cabinets filled with maps in need of care. The student who works on this project will assess the department's collection of maps, categorize condition of each, and work with collection's Curatorial Associate to determine a basic treatment plan, organize, inventory, and rehouse the maps. The maps held in the collection span decades, states, and countries. Attention to detail is needed to note annotations on the maps and if they make reference to the specimen collection. Basic conservation care will be conducted through improving map housing and working with the department's Curatorial Assistant for conservation treatment, as needed.
