Records of Lorraine Howes

During the Spring 2026 semester, one student will process the Records of Lorraine Howes (2009.36) as part of their LIS 438 coursework. The materials constitute 3.6 linear feet (3 record cartons). This 3-box collection contains 2 series of research materials, “Art files” (1 box) and “Fashion files” (2 boxes) collected by Lorraine Howes, RISD Professor Emerita in the Apparel Design Department. Folders are organized alphabetically, and contain magazine, newspaper clippings, correspondence, and research papers. Subjects of alphabetized folders include reputable fashion designers, brands, and other subjects related to apparel design and evolution.
