Project Details
This placement is designed to provide a graduate student with hands-on experience translating existing DACS-compliant finding aids (in Word) into Boston University’s ArchivesSpace instance with high fidelity. Working from a defined set of legacy Wheelock College Archives finding aids, the student will: (1) enter and normalize descriptive components (title, dates, extent, scope and content, arrangement); and (2) perform systematic quality control for field completeness, note type correctness, normalization of dates/extents, subject/name deduplication; and consistent application of standardized notes (conditions governing access/use, scope and content, arrangement, etc.). Where questions arise, the student may compare description to the onsite material to validate container context and series structure.
Are you willing to complete two evaluations of your students progress through out the course of the semester?
